Out and about...

Tuesday marked Robbie's 35th birthday. We celebrated at Oklahoma Joe's BBQ with our KC family. Their generosity amazes me and Robbie was gifted with a Snuggie and an Apple store gift card with enough money on it to purchase the latest and greatest iPhone. It's always great to have everyone together and as we all sat around the table I realized how in three short years three new people have been added to the mix. Having babies and toddlers at the table truly enhances the experience and reminds me how life evolves.

I took Jackson, by myself, to work yesterday to meet my co-workers. This was their "reward" for putting up with my 9 months of pregnancy. In the three hours I was there I only held him once to feed him. He was passed around like a little hot potato and was a big hit with the ladies. It felt good to be out and being in the Cancer Center reminded me I like it there and look forward to going back. If only I could strap the kid to my back and bring him with me...

Getting out on my own and returning home intact was good for me. It made me realize I can do this, keep my kid alive and survive the trip myself. These seemingly small milestones are actually quite gigantic and this one only took me 5 weeks to accomplish!

I am so grateful Jackson is healthy and eating, sleeping and thriving. Sometimes I forget about the new parents who are dealing with the challenges a preemie or sick baby brings.
