The first month, gone already...

Okay, so I will admit it, the first three weeks felt a little like an eternity, but I am happy to report that first of all...I'm happy and second of all we are slowly getting into a groove. Granted, said "groove" happens to fluctuate on a moment to moment basis, but I suppose the true pattern evolving here is Robbie and I are starting to figure out our new life with Jackson.

And speaking of which (surprise!) he is performing rather well in his new found Life Duties of sleeping, eating, crying, growing and completing diaper reports. We made a visit to Dr. Peterlin on Thursday and Jack is growing like a proverbial weed. Here are his 1 month check-up stats, 'cause, well, someone (Nana) might be interested in this stuff:

Weight = 10 lbs 14 oz
Length = 21.65 in
Head circumference = 15.43 in

I was really hoping that at this appointment he wouldn't have to have any vaccinations. I was just sure he wouldn't have any until his 2nd month check-up. Well, I was wrong. He had to have one shot and he did not like it one bit. I managed to muster up the strength to stay in the exam room with him and Robbie while the shot was administered, thinking it would be harder to stand outside and hear him suddenly start to wail. Robbie captured the moment and as you can see it was not pretty. Poor little guy. His 2nd month check-up will be brutal with 4, count them, 4 shots. I will be perfectly placed at work and Robbie, the brave soul, will accompany Jackson to face the pain.

Last night we met a big milestone - Jackson slept in his crib for an entire night (including his many night feedings, of course). The sleep I was getting (or rather, not getting) was very poor with him in our room. Apparently, he wasn't sleeping all that great either because we both slept quite soundly in our respective rooms. I am only hoping our relatively good night of sleep wasn't a fluke.

It's the 4th of July, Jackson's first, and I know in only a few short years Robbie will be teaching him the ways of the Black Cat and how to properly light and quickly run away from whatever is being blown up. Until then, we will enjoy dinner with friends and watching the explosions from afar. Hope you and yours have a safe and happy weekend.
