Turkey talk...

It's officially Turkey Week and I am happy to announce I am free from the burden of attending classes for the entire week. Granted, I still have two papers to write and a massive French final to cram for - but, hey...that's all going down next week.

Last week I had a few "issues" and they were painful emotionally and physically enough to call my doctor. Friday I went in and they did an ultrasound to make sure things with the kid were okay. Fortunately everything is fine and I got to see how in 6 short weeks a tiny baby blob becomes a tiny baby human. (I will post the ultrasound pictures soon - it requires a little IT effort from the Robot.) By Thursday night I was in semi-meltdown mode and convinced I was going to spend the weekend calling everyone with bad, bad news. It turns out this baby is not only okay, but measuring a couple of days ahead and completing amazing acrobatic maneuvers inside my uterus. Maybe it was the coffee I had had that morning, but that kid was bouncing all over the place. After the ultrasound I went for my first RhoGAM shot which, I think, is quite fascinating all its own. I survived the needle to the hip and won't feel so panicked for the next two injections. After the appointment I drove directly to Robbie's office so I could show him the latest pictures of our baby. It will never get old to see him tear up at fuzzy, black and white, strange-looking images of our little boy or girl.

Sunday afternoon I met Mrs. Nelson at the Scrapbook Page for a mini crop. She worked on Max's first year book and I decided to make Christmas cards. For years I faithfully made festive cards and in the last few I have completely fallen off the card making wagon. I figured it was time to jump back on and successfully completed a good chunk of my goal. It was a nice afternoon and it felt really good to submerge myself in a little creativity.

Thanksgiving is so close and I can almost taste the turkey. I have never looked so forward to a meal before in my life! I've really been enjoying food lately (more than usual anyway) and have been Craving (that's right...with a capital 'C') turkey of all things. Talk about timing! Robbie and I are hosting about 11 people this Thursday for a meal and good times. Making the decision to stay in KC means not being with our families...so we do the next best thing...we have as much of our KC family over and whoever else needs a surrogate family for the day. Between the food our guests will bring and Robbie's fried bird we are going to have a magnificent feast. We have much to be thankful for...and I'm not just talking about turkey.
