If it's good enough for the Doster's...

Robbie was in Pittsburgh, PA this weekend for his Navy reunion (of which he had a blast!) and my Mom was in Kansas City helping me paint the kitchen. After much debate and toying with the idea of pink I did what any color crazy person would, I went with blue, well, turquoise, actually. The color is called Holiday Turquoise and my kitchen is so happy and bright now I feel as though I am on holiday upon entering it. We freshened up the trim with a nice coat of Popped Corn white paint and the end result is just delicious. Thanks Mom for being the best paint buddy ever. Oh, and I went with Sherwin William's Durable paint. It was around $40 for a gallon but worth every penny. I did two coats just because I had the paint - but truly believe one would've worked. We also painted the ceiling a bright white and that alone made the room feel so much better.

If you noticed and wondered if the pantry doors were painted black - well, you're right, they are indeed. In fact, we painted them with chalkboard paint so feel free to come over and write something obscene (or lovely) on my pantry bi-fold. The light switch and electrical sockets plates were covered with Paper Source paper I've been hoarding for months.

The only thing left to do is buy the kitchen island I found and have it stained the same color as the cabinets. Oh, and I need a pretty new knob for my pantry door. I had my eye on one from Anthropologie...

The end result? I absolutely can not wait to tackle the rest of the house. Beige be gone!

Great color. Can't wait to see it in person. I hope you have some chalk handy.

A multi colored rug would look really good under the table! I love that color! I was so inspired I came home and put the wallpaper border up in the entry and primed the wood moulding around it. Tomorrow I paint. I love your kitchen and had so much fun helping and wish I had absorbed the french lessons as well as I did the paint! Ah well, vive la Americans! I love painting with you! I had the best weekend.
