Monday, again, really?
I can't even believe how quickly the time flies, fun or no fun...it just goes whizzing by. I am choosing to go into work later this afternoon instead of early this morning and am finding it really difficult to commit to anything other than coffee and, apparently, updating you on my eventful weekend. Lucky you.
My mother-in-law and grandmother-in-law came in last Thursday night for an extended weekend visit. It's the first time Granny has been to Kansas City since we moved here 5 years ago. We took them on the Robbie and Catie Moved to Kansas City and Lived and Worked Here Tour (seriously, the most riveting hour of your life) and had fantastic BBQ at our favorite place, Oklahoma Joe's. Robbie grilled steaks and I cooked breakfast. We shopped and hung out at home. It was a nice weekend and the weather even cooperated beautifully.
On Saturday the Kansas City Chalk and Walk Festival was held in the Crossroads Arts District. I encouraged our friend Brent to participate and of course offered my artist assistant services. We knocked out a 4'x6' chalk painting in about 2 and half hours - thanks to Brent's large blocks of color approach. This was a smaller festival than the one Robbie and I participated in a few years ago, but equally as fun. Thanks Brent for letting me tag along. Maybe next year I will give my mad skills enough credit to take on my own chalk painting.
Last week Robbie and I found out we are going to become an Aunt and Uncle again to another little girl! Billy and Kim are due with Baby Girl #2 in November and we couldn't be happier for them. It will always be amazing to me to watch families grow, change and evolve. Lily, our first niece will be 1 on Wednesday, which means I will be 31 a week from then. My, my, how time flies.
