Shoo Fly Don't Bother Me...

Don't be fooled...I finished this painting BEFORE starting my new job. I haven't talked to my parents in a week, forgot to send my mother-in-law a birthday card, ran out of clean socks and forgot to get my grade reports in. The last thing on my mind was posting the second painting in my series. It's Sunday morning though and that means I had an entire day to sort my life out...Called Mother-in-Law, Mom, and Granny (for good measure), tackled some laundry, cleaned some house, even made it to the grocery store and now, now I can worry about grade reports, church, Stein Mart and cooking for friends tonight. Oh, and posting painting #2!

Again, the image is terrible, but if you look close enough you'll notice there are three little flies buzzing around in this pink room. I used fabric for the "wallpaper" flowers and decided to include the chair from my breakfast nook. I sketched this painting out one day while in a bored stupor at my old job. The tyrant who ran that particular department was hovering around everyone nit-picking and yelling (yes, she yelled) and generally making a complete nuisance of herself. I had other incredibly annoying obstacles in my life at the time as well and couldn't help but feel overwhelmed by all of the buzzing about. I envisioned the ability to swat at my problems to make them go away - oh, if only it were that simple.

I just think it's hilarious that you painted your annoyances as flies. . .what a great metaphor! I wish we all could swat away anything that's bothering us! Oh, and the painting looks great!
