It's mornings like these....
It is gorgeous outside and I might add that with the windows open, the curtains slowly billowing and the coffee brewing, it's gorgeous inside too. I love being in a house again, especially on a morning like this.
It's true, I've been sick now for three weeks and I am still coughing and feeling generally tired. Oh, and I have the Stuffy Ear. I've never experienced the Stuffy Ear before and am kind of weirded out by the whole thing. I feel as though I am living in my head and that if I don't yell out my words they never truly escape thought. For someone who is generally pretty loud on a non-sick day this is saying something and so far people have been politely putting up with my sickly loudness. The stress test I was suppose to undergo last week was canceled due to the coughing and general feeling of yuckiness. I was glad because the more I am reading about this test, the more I desire to postpone it permanently. I know, I know, I won't Mother.
Robbie and I spent last Saturday cleaning out our bedroom closets. I am happy to announce that we have successfully completed one week of Putting Dirty Clothes in the Dirty Clothes Hamper. Other items have been Hung Back Up and other than a couple of pairs of shoes, which seem to seep from under the door of my closet, most have been Put Away. After a week of work and general living, the hamper is now full, so the next test will be Doing the Laundry. Something I am excellent at starting, but not so great at finishing.
Flashback: Remember how badly I couldn't wait to have my own washer and dryer again?
I haven't sewed as much as I would like in the last few weeks. My doctor gave me this amazing cough syrup and well, let's just say I don't get a whole lot done when I take it except stare into space and drool, heavily, on my pillow. My latest project, however, except for one incredibly adorable baby bib that might fit a small doll, was a gift for my Mom for her birthday.

I made the fall, floral bag for her and I am certain someone will be getting the polka dot bag for Christmas. This was my first attempt at following a pattern....yes, step by step, with ZERO improvisation. What I have found is this: patterns can be rather easy to follow if and only if I read and reread the directions and then have Robbie show me what needs to be done. I used interfacing for the first time with these bags to reinforce the fabric and was amazed at how handy this weird, scratchy not-really-fabric stuff is. Thanks Granny for sharing your tips and gigantic loot of interfacing. I recently went to my local fabric store to buy more interfacing and was shocked at a) the choices made available in thickness and b) the cost per yard. I seriously thought you could buy a big roll of the stuff.......like Granny had in her magical fabric closet. Where does she find this stuff?!!!
Other than trying to resume normalcy in my bronchial tubes and such, things here are pretty, well, normal. Robbie is feeling better and looking more straightened every day. He's begun doing some more exercises and has been able to care for me without reminding me that he isn't feeling great either. Life in Fairway, Kansas is good and I am thankful everyday for our family, our friends, our jobs and the beautiful autumn days we're so graciously given to enjoy.
Happy weekending to you all!

I love my bag! It is so much prettier than a plain ole leather bag and easier to find things in too! I sure could use a navy one...
Love you,
Mom
We miss you already. LILY misses you most.
Thanks for all you do for us, for the fam and for Lily. She adores you.
Have a great week.
