Ranger Rick...

I have a birthday coming up. I also have a father who would never forget the actual day I was born. This birthday for me is a big one...30. I wasn't surprised to get an email from my Dad celebrating the day but I was surprised it came a month early. And then I read it...

My Darling Daughter Catie

It has been almost thirty years since one of the most significant events of my life. Thirty years ago since I first experienced the on-going thrill and enjoyment wrapped up in that single bundle of joy, the first sense of excitement that has been an almost daily occurrence. Thirty years ago since that wonderful, mystical moment when I was first spiritually awakened to realize just who and what I am, thirty years since that first realization of hope and awe emanating from a single source of magic. Thirty years - it's hard to believe that it's been that long since Star Wars first appeared in theatres.

It almost makes me weep.

By the way, your mom told me you have a birthday coming up? In case I miss it, Happy Birthday. You should do something special that day, whenever it is, like go see the Thirtieth Anniversary Edition of Star Wars. That would be great!

Your loving and devoted Father

Happy Father's Day to the Ranger. I love you too, almost as much as I love Star Wars.

How sweet. . .I talked to my dad today for an hour! At the end he said, "well, I've probably talked your ear off" to which I replied, "Dad, I never get tired of talking to you." Good Father's Day for both of us, even if we couldn't be with them!
