Go out in joy...

I closed my eyes for two seconds...where did April go?

The school year is winding down. I teach for three more weeks and then freedom from 7th and 8th graders! My summer looks pretty crazy though. I got a call, while on vacation, from my boss with my part-time medical records job and they need me to cover for a co-worker while she is away on maternity leave. Full-time work starts tomorrow!!! I am very happy about this mostly because I am so close to paying off my car and apparently student teachers are encouraged NOT to work...for pay, anyway, while student teaching. Basically, I will be a slave to the Kansas City Public School System for a few months this next school year, yippee.

I am also going to do some tutoring this summer and I am really looking forward to it. I've wanted to start helping students academically for some time, but haven't had the opportunity. Well, the opportunity is now here, so I am jumping.

I've been listening to a lot of Sufjan Stevens lately and there is this one song he sings called, All the Trees Of the Field Will Clap Their Hands. I thought it was such an odd title...did a little research and found that it is actually a quote from Isaiah 55:12. This is a verse I have never seen before and I am so inspired by the words of praise. And maybe there's just something so delightful about mountains and hills singing and trees clapping their hands. More to come, I am sure. Context is important and I want to know more.

You will go out in joy
and be led forth in peace;
the mountains and hills
will burst into song before you,
and all the trees of the field
will clap their hands.
Isaiah 55:12
