Hot Diggity Dog...

The rain and snow went away and today was absolutely gorgeous. I needed a day like this one...I got all of our laundry done, (um, that includes the laundry from the apartment that I was hoarding until we bought a washer and dryer - yuck, I know) firmed up lesson plans, did my homework for the week and finished my final painting (the one posted...yes, I was going for kitschy). I was pretty darn productive and that makes me feel mighty good.

The semester ends in a couple of weeks and next month I will find out where I will be student teaching next year. I didn't realize I would find out so soon and am kind of scared to see where they are placing me. It all feels so random and I don't really like the idea of spending a whole year with highschoolers. It's hard to be taken seriously when your the shortest one in the class AND the teacher. Of course, I did have an English teacher in the 9th grade who would always say, "Simmer down!" that we all found a bit intimidating. I swear she was only 4'10, but with her poofy hair I bet she stood about 5'0. I suppose it's all about presence. That and being really mean, right Mrs. Nelson? Maybe I should just consider getting a perm.

Because it is suppose to be so nice out tomorrow I thought it would be a total shame to be stuck in the basement with the kindergarten and 1st grade classes. My solution for this is sidewalk chalk and lots of it. I am almost giddy with excitement because I know the kids will love it and yes, I will love it too. Hooray for Art!

The last couple of days I've seen chalk art in our neighbors driveway. The 2 girls are in preschool and kindergarten. Their mom is a gym teacher. Pretty smart Mrs. K-nig-it. Love, Mom

I hope you had a wonderful day with those kiddos, the sidewalk chalk sounds like a perfect solution to that basement! Makes wish I was there (but for only a second)! And yes... be really, really mean. However, make sure that it is a logical mean... random mean is just not right! ~Mrs. N
