9 months later and no baby...

but, Robbie has a job.

It's been nine months since Barkley gave Robbie the Boot and it almost seems like a lifetime ago but then I remember. So, every now and then it's nice to have a moment where I can be happy for Robbie and the difficult challenges he faced and realize it was a hard summer, but God had a plan and something else in mind. Something great.
Saturday Robbie and I attended the grand opening of the Deanna Rose Children's Farmstead brand spankin' new Dairy Barn and boy was it a beautiful but crazy, windy day. Robbie's employer, Premier Studios, was hired to help with making the barn an educational and fun place for kids to learn about dairy and how it came to Kansas.

Robbie worked on an animated short film called Rosie's Big Moovie About Dairy and in the new barn there is a theater where this "moovie" plays. Saturday was the big premier and the Premier Studios team had a private screening for the family and friends of those who worked on the project, along with 100's of Overland Park, Kansas' finest citizens and their millions of kids! There was food, including hot dogs, cookies, ice cream, chocolate and plain milk, oh, and KETTLE CORN, tiny tractor rides, real pony rides, fishing, plenty of baby livestock to keep the kids highly entertained (including the tiniest, most precious little baby lamb I have ever seen) and of course the sprawling, gorgeous grounds of the farmstead where a kid can burn more energy than you might ever think was possible. It was awesome.

The best part of the day was right after watching the movie. Gerald, the big boss of Premier, presented the guys who worked tirelessly on the Rosie project with a plaque and speech of recognition for the work they had done. I know it made Robbie's day and I know it makes him want to work that much harder. The little kids clapped and enjoyed the movie, the adults laughed at all of the little "adult jokes" nestled into the film for their sanity and enjoyment and we left the Farmstead with hot bags of Kettle Corn and wind blown hair. It was a really great day for more reasons than I can even begin to explain. Way to go RK, I'm you're number one fan and I know there are quite a few people who are just as proud of all you've accomplished.

Here's to doing what you love and savoring those moments when someone else notices a job well-done.
