Football can be fun...

I am not particularly a sports fanatic and I don't completely understand the rules of football...but, I live in Kansas City and that means by default I am a Chiefs fan. The last game of the season was on New Years Eve and we were lucky enough to be invited to go with my Aunt, Uncle Cousin and Cousin-in-Law. The weather called for a dreary, cold day...perfect football weather. Robbie and I purchased the wrong color ponchos and dressed in layers. Around half-time the misty wetness turned to snow. Magic.

Arrowhead Stadium is known as the loudest one in the NFL. The fans are nuts about this team and there is something so amazingly communal about attending a game. 85,000 people are crammed into one place yelling for the same thing, drinking beer and eating hot dogs, grateful for the body heat of the stranger snuggled next to you. The excitement and energy keeps you warm...oh, and the hot chocolate Aunt Linda hands you is heaven sent.

The really great thing about this game was the Chiefs won...and while they were kickin' Jacksonville on the field three other teams in the NFL were losing, which, strategically placed Kansas City in the playoffs. No one really saw this coming and some have been quoted as saying the "stars were aligned." You should have heard the crowd when this was realized. Everyone went nuts...except me...I was still trying to figure out what had just happened.

Thanks to some of our favorite people for sharing a fabulously cold, football game with us.
Go Chiefs!

Your dad is still saying "I can't believe they made the playoffs!" at random times. He had told me before the game that 3 teams had to lose that day for that to happen and we had both agreed that that was highly unlikely. Perhaps God is a Chiefs fan...Love, Mom
