Well...

I have managed to find something else to talk about!

Today, as I was casually stepping off of the stairs of the blasted work shuttle, taking me to and fro between car and work, I apparently stepped wrong, fell and sprained my left ankle. Stubbornly, I waved off the need of a wheelchair and hobbled my way through the Cancer Center to my clinic. Of course, there was ice and ace bandages and nurses Mother Henning me to death, not to mention an incident report and a 4 hour journey to Occupation Health.

Of course, Robbie came to my rescue by picking me up and taking me to the hospital. It was nice to have him there to keep me company during all of the waiting, and waiting and waiting. The hospital is down the street from the Cancer Center and it's a massive city block of building upon building. Some of the buildings are really old and some are new, they all, however are all connected with intricate and confusing corridors and hallways. On our way from the radiology department we encountered a fabulously wide and long hallway with a slight decline. Robbie couldn't resist and honestly, I was ready to have a little fun. He took off in a sprint and I nearly had a run in with the wall, but man, that wheelchair could book it down that hallway! I've decided Robbie is the best hospital and doctors' office buddy. He always manages to make it a little more tolerable. Of course, if another injury had occurred I would have had some serious explaining to do.

I made it back to work in time to finish clinic and fortunately I have some wonderful co-workers who were able to cover for me while I was gone - despite having their own busy clinics. I am amazingly reluctant to ask for help even when it's really needed and a few of my co-workers learned this today about me - something they were kind of surprised to find.

I am finally home for the evening and really tired. Tomorrow is going to be another busy day, but I am hoping it will be without the drama of today. Time for bed.
