Sunday evening and avoiding lesson planning...
Have you seen my new hair? It's so very short and it takes me less than 5 minutes to "do" in the morning. In other news (which I am sure is equally as exciting) Robbie is heading back to work tomorrow and joined me this afternoon on the couch where we did some reading. Of course, it didn't take long for him to run me off, citing his need to stretch out and take up all the room on the couch because "his back hurts."
I bought the book YOU: on a Diet. It's very informative and has helped me better understand the mystery that is the GI tract and how foods are absorbed and used for fuel....and specifically, in my case, how the foods I choose to eat make me feel yucky and feeling fuel-less. It's an easy read and has these great illustrations for those of us who need help visualizing just how ugly belly fat is and how downright hateful it is to our other organs. Apparently squeezing into my jeans wasn't a clear enough illustration for me.
School starts the 27th and I have approximately three weeks to get my rear in gear for the new school year. I suppose some things will come a bit easier this year. I kind of know the drill now. But, like having children, I am realizing there is a lot to be said about being a bit naïve. (Notice: I have no children, but I know a lot of people who do.)
Speaking of children. My cousin Sarah and her husband Jason came into town this weekend and we had a lovely visit with them and their whiny kids Noah and Maggie. (that was just for you Jason :) We last saw them on the beaches of Florida and I think secretly we all wish we could have been hanging out on the deck of the beach house drinking coffee watching the tide come in rather than watching Noah chase Ollie the cat around the house. Although, it was pretty funny to watch Ollie run through the house considering she pretty much only moseys her way through the day. Noah and Maggie both are getting so big and Maggie is certainly getting a kick out of her big brother. I was happy to hear the details of their decision to move back to St. Louis. Selfishly I figure it's just that much closer to us.
Well, it's 10 pm and officially my bedtime. The weekend is over. *sigh*
Hope everyone has a great week....so long refined sugar...I will miss you, but only a little.
