Taco Bueno es muy bueno...

One day I was driving North on I-35 heading to the grocery store and that's when I saw it....

the Taco Bueno sign
(cue angels singing)

Was I dreaming? Was it real? Indeed! I slowly drove by the new building and prayed that it was open. No luck. There were, however, new employees attending a Taco Bueno training inside while the construction workers were completing their finishing touches to the outside. I know all of this because I drove by the building three more times just to make sure I was seeing progress towards the grand opening. I refrained from actually getting out of my car and speaking with the current trainees...but man, was I tempted.

I quickly phoned Robbie and announced the incredible. I know he wanted to squeal like a little girl, but he also showed some restraint and just opted for a giddy, more manly kind of joy.

A couple of weeks later the Grand Opening had arrived. The Nelsons accompanied us to the blessed event and we ate and talked and ate some more. The manager even came over to our table to greet us and we just had to tell her all about how sad we had been to leave Taco Bueno behind when we all moved to Kansas City. She really seemed genuinely excited for us. I suppose she knows a little piece of home is a good thing. Now, if I could just get my parents and Mediterranean Imports and Deli to move up here...
